success and happiness

Success is not "thinking" and devising your own plan and making up your mind then expecting God to bless it ... success is seeking God and asking what His plan is and then joining Him in it, by the way, that is also the path to happiness :) because He knows more than we do ~ Penny Raine

Getting the Accent Right: "Not of . . . But Sent Into"

http://www.desiringgod.org/blog/posts/getting-the-accent-right-not-of-but-sent-into

Remember these two promises:

1. Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matt 6:22
2. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:6

when you pray…

John Bunyan: “When you pray, rather let your heart be without words then your words without heart."

So, my question to you is, can we encourage our children and keep them from becoming prideful and self focused?

http://www.keepinitreal-gina.com/2011/08/hey-guess-what-you-are-beautiful.html

Great article… this portion spoke to me…

It is not  our calling to "raise Godly children".
It is our calling to be authentic believers and live out the gospel before our children. It is our calling to nurture our children, instruct and guide them, love them, pray for them, share God's Word with them,  and share the gospel with them!  God is the only one who can work in a child's heart and change him (or anyone) into a godly person.  His Spirit draws them, opens their eyes, and changes and matures them. It is a process that we can't control.

character

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved. ~ Helen Keller

happy world photography day!

Photographer Quote

I love capturing a time, a moment, a feeling. I love old photographs that actually reach through the years and grant you a glimpse into that one moment in time that can’t be taken away. I love how it sparks memories and feelings. And I love that I can do that for myself and others. Time marches on and we are basically left powerless to stop it except with a photograph. God doesn’t call the qualified…

Rahab was a prostitute, Jacob was a cheater, Peter had a temper, David had an affair, Noah got drunk, Jonah ran from God, Paul was a murderer, Gideon was insecure, Miriam was a gossiper, Martha was a worrier, Thomas was a doubter, Sara was impatient, Elijah was moody, Moses stuttered, Zaccheus was short, Abraham was old, and Lazarus was dead.... Now, what's YOUR excuse? God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the CALLED!!!

Homeschool Curriculum Crisis - Interest led or Exams?

http://www.homeschooling-ideas.com/homeschool-curriculum-crisis-interest-led-or-exams.html

“My eldest daughter came out of school at the age of eight as she was struggling and just did not wish to be there - not the schools fault, it just wasn't right for her. She is now 13 and although I am mindful of the necessity to pass exams in English and Maths at the very least, I don't know whether to focus solely on the subjects taught at school following the same curriculum as they do, or whether to ditch that idea (and the pressure)! and just teach her whatever she's interested in.”

5 Reasons Not To Pursue Your Passion

http://miss-britt.com/2011/02/5-reasons-not-to-pursue-your-passion/

“I believe that every single one of us has a purpose – a role in this world that we were made to fill. I believe that we are most happy when we are actively filling that role, whatever it may be at the time.

I believe that your passion – the thing, action, topic, person, whatever that gets your heart humming – is the clue God gives each of us as to what our role is. It’s like a primitive roadmap telling us to do what feels good in order to find our way in the world. Do you like that? Getting warmer. Do you love that? Hot, hot, hot!

Unfortunately, I think we come across a lot of roadblocks on that path. Doubts, insecurities and good old fashion fear work hard to keep us from discovering and embracing our passion.

We come up with great reasons not to pursue our passions.

But why? Why would we struggle to avoid something that could make us so happy? Because…  (click on the link to read the rest of the article)”    http://miss-britt.com/2011/02/5-reasons-not-to-pursue-your-passion/

grace

Sinclair Ferguson: “Grace is not a 'thing'. It is not a substance that can be measured or a commodity to be distributed. In essence, it is Jesus Himself.”
