WE WILL BE A SHELTER

The choir sang this song tonight, I really love the lyrics.

WE WILL BE A SHELTER
Lyrics by Tom Long, Music by Allen Pote

This anthem was written after Hurricane Ivan destroyed thousands of homes
in Pensacola, Florida in September, 2004.
It is dedicated to all victims of natural disasters throughout the world.

In every life a day will come beneath an angry sky,
The earthly things we build will fall, and we will question why.
Then heaven whispers in our hearts and we are moved to see
Our neighbor has become a friend, and friends a family.

Love can build a house that stands forever,
Stronger than a wall of steel or stone.
We will be a shelter for each other in the storm,
And when we come together, we'll be home.

For those who wander in the streets, who shiver in the rain,
For all who live in loneliness, for every soul in pain,
For every child who's lost the way, from every friend they knew,
We pray that we may find the strength to make this promise true:

Love can build a house that stands forever,
Stronger than a wall of steel or stone.
We will be a shelter for each other in the storm,
And when we come together, we'll be home.

I wish I had known when I started homeschool that its fruit is measured in young adult reflections, not year end narratives or test scores.

Brave Writer LLC In other words, think about the legacy you will leave with your children. Keep building nurturing relationships and live your educational passions before them. Over time, they will show you what they learned, what they loved, what they valued.
